Job summary

Housing Works, Inc. is seeking an Intake Specialist in New York to screen patients for insurance eligibility and complete daily sliding fee scale applications.

You will work with the EMR system to upload documents and issue Good Faith Estimates for patients not using insurance, while supporting the Patient Care Coordinator with medical case management. The role requires strong organizational skills, experience with Medicaid enrollment, and the ability to provide trauma-informed, patient-centered

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations regarding medical document requests.
• Strong organizational and case management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients for insurance eligibility and verification.
• Register new patients and manage sliding fee scale applications.
• Issue Good Faith Estimates for patients not using insurance or self-pay.
• Assist the Patient Care Coordinator with medical case management.
• Enroll clients in Medicaid HMO and assist with changes to insurance/PCP.
• Participate in meetings (QI, rounds) and support advocacy efforts.
• Provide excellent customer service and escalate issues as needed.
• Adapt to a fast-paced environment and cover other duties as assigned.
