Job summary

Housing Works Inc. in New York seeks an Intake Specialist to screen patients, verify insurance eligibility, register new patients, and ensure daily sliding fee scale applications are complete in the EMR.

The role involves issuing Good Faith Estimates, assisting with NYS Marketplace enrollment (ADAP, PrEP, HIV, Hep C Navigation), and supporting the Patient Care Coordinator with care management. You will adapt to a fast-paced environment and uphold our values.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical document requests.
• Strong organizational and case management abilities.
• Spanish language proficiency preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Complete NYS Assistor Training within the first 30 days.
• Assist uninsured patients with enrollment in insurance through the NYS Marketplace and ADAP.
• Issue Good Faith Estimates at least three days before visits.
• Verify insurance eligibility for scheduled and walk-in visits.
• Complete Sliding Fee Scale applications and upload into the EMR.
• Enroll clients in Medicaid HMO and assist with changes to PCP or insurance.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and clinical staff meetings.
• Support advocacy efforts to combat homelessness and AIDS.
• Provide excellent customer service and escalate issues as needed.
• Uphold Housing Works’ core values and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
