Job summary

Care-For-the-Homeless- in New York City is seeking a Housing Specialist to help clients secure and maintain stable housing. You will conduct housing needs assessments, develop individualized housing plans, and work with clients, landlords, and other service providers to place people in homes.

The role requires a background in housing services or case management, 2+ years of experience, and bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in housing services or case management.
• Knowledge of HUD regulations and HUD-funded programs preferred.
• Proficiency with EHR systems or housing management software.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work with a diverse population and respond to crises.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive housing needs assessments covering housing history, financial status, family composition, and special needs.
• Develop individualized housing plans in collaboration with case managers and providers.
• Coordinate with landlords, brokers, and service providers to facilitate housing placements.
• Monitor housing stability through regular check-ins and home visits.
• Maintain records in EHR or housing software and ensure HUD reporting compliance.
