Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) is seeking a Housing Counselor in Malden to join the Housing and Homelessness Prevention team. You will provide counseling, assist with applications, coordinate referrals, and support families toward securing housing and preventing homelessness.

The role emphasizes outreach, case management, and collaboration with diverse communities, offering a pathway to certification and a meaningful impact on the Greater Boston area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; up to 12 months of social services experience.
• Housing Counselor Certification or ability to become certified within 6 months.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication.
• Diversity sensitivity and ability to work with varied backgrounds.

Responsabilités

• Triages and provides housing information, guidance, and referrals.
• Biweekly outreach to assist until housing is secured.
• Stabilization support for 12 months to keep housing stable.
• Manage up to 30 at-risk households and 15 stabilization cases.
• Conduct intake and assessments for referred clients.
• Assist emergency cases in securing shelter.
• Respond to referrals within 2 business days.
• Provide transportation to shelter or hotel as needed.
• Assist with applications and housing resources.
• Refer clients to community resources for housing sustainment.
