Job summary

VNACJ CHC is seeking a Financial Counselor to join our Freehold, NJ team. You will work with uninsured patients to guide them through financial assistance programs, prepare for visits, and ensure documentation is complete.

You will collaborate with clinical and administrative staff and support front desk operations. The role requires bilingual English-Spanish communication, clerical experience, and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of clerical/office support experience.
• Experience in medical billing and/or insurance enrollment.
• Bilingual English-Spanish required.
• Ability to problem solve with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and math skills; interpersonal skills for diverse population.

Responsibilities

• Assist uninsured patients with documentation and program eligibility.
• Support front desk staff and coordinate with clinical/administrative teams.
• Review appointment schedules and track uninsured patient panels.
• Determine eligibility for uninsured programs (sliding fee, self-pay).
• Document accurately in the Practice Management system (NextGen).
• Assist with onboarding at other locations as needed.
• Participate in performance review meetings with Office Manager and Billing Supervisor.
