Job summary

Compass Family Services in San Francisco is seeking a bilingual Intake Specialist to conduct initial family intakes, determine program eligibility, and connect families with information and referrals at the organization’s Office.

You will collaborate with the Resource Center team, train interns, maintain client records in Salesforce, and support distribution center activities to ensure smooth service delivery.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish and English is required.
• Understanding of trauma-informed care and issues facing homeless families.
• Knowledge of San Francisco social service resources.
• Experience working in crisis situations; ability to assess and de-escalate quickly.
• Outstanding work habits: communication, reliability, teamwork, organization.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
• Able to lift at least 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Welcome families and conduct initial assessments to understand needs and guide options within Compass Family Services and the community.
• Screen families for program eligibility, complete Navigation Forms, and provide direct referrals.
• Collaborate with Office Manager/Receptionist to maintain smooth family flow and directed program access.
• Train and mentor interns and volunteers on intake and drop-in best practices.
• Work with colleagues to assess needs, identify trends, and keep resources updated.
• Maintain accurate records in Compass' Salesforce database and other applicable documents.
• Organize client records to support consistency and QA across the team.
• Support Distribution Center operations including inventory, restocking, and volunteer support.
