This position works closely with NYAP clients and community partners, providing advocacy and support toward the goal of living safely and successfully in the community.RESPONSIBILITIESThe Family Advocate EFSP will perform duties including, but not limited to:Actively supports, represents, and extends the mission, vision, and values of the organization.Assists clients in applying for Guardianship of their minor relatives and/or fictive kin.Provides in-home supportive services, community resource referrals, advocacy, and other social service interventions to the clients.Travels to family homes to complete intakes and safety checks. Accompany families to complete guardianship applications, including fingerprinting services and assists families in obtaining birth and death certificates.Provides services in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.Completes and submits all required documentation in an accurate and timely manner.Maintains complete and accurate programmatic records.Completes other duties as assigned b y supervisorMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in human services with previous community services experience. MA preferred.2 years of work experience working in direct service strongly preferred.CERAP Certified or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months of employment.Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, automotive insurance, and a good driving record.A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours, including evening and weekend hours as needed.Capacity to be flexible and responsive to clients served, system partners and internal customers.Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.Demonstrates tolerance and respect for the ideas and actions of others.Capacity to effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to people from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds.Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, Smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.Time management, organizational skills and attention to detail.Advanced Spanish language skills highly required.The person in this position needs to follow a team concept and support both agency goals and co-workers.
