Job summary

Innovative Network of Knowledge (INK) seeks an entry-level Childcare Assistant to support Head Start classrooms in Texas. The role emphasizes safety, organized learning environments, and collaboration with teachers, families, and service staff to promote development from birth to five.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED, a CDA credential (will be earned within 6 months), and some prior childcare experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDA credential required; CDA certificate must be obtained within 6 months.
• If mixed classrooms, both CDAs are required.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Previous early childcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Protect the health and safety of children at all times.
• Assist with creating an organized learning environment aligned with developmental frameworks.
• Assist with curricula implementation in language, literacy, math, and social-emotional development.
• Support screenings, assessments, and ongoing evaluation of child progress.
• Engage families through conferences, home visits, and group activities.
• Follow practices to ensure child safety and appropriate supervision.
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas of program operations.
• Communicate observations to teachers to address developmental needs.
