Job summary

Spokane Falls Community College is seeking an ASL Lab & Instructional Support Technician 2 to support the ASLIE program and lab operations. The role requires fluent ASL and bilingual communication to facilitate instruction and student assistance across modalities.

The position is 11 months at 32 hours per week, with salary steps, and opportunities for advancement. The department coordinates instructional support, course materials, and technical functions for the ASLIE program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Professional fluency in American Sign Language.
• Two or more years in an administrative support environment.
• Knowledge of computers and software including Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, databases, and virtual meeting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Open, monitor, and maintain the ASL Lab; ensure equipment, materials, and space are clean, organized, and ready for daily student use and faculty-directed activities.
• Provide direct student support in the ASL Lab, including one-on-one and small-group assistance with ASL grammar, vocabulary, receptive and expressive skills, and conversation practice.
• Serve as a daily Deaf language model and cultural resource, providing students with authentic ASL interaction and reinforcing the cultural competencies essential for future interpreters.
• Coordinate all logistics for EIPA written and performance administrations, including scheduling with proctors and building staff, room preparation, technology setup, and post-assessment equipment breakdown; manage 12-15 assessment dates per academic year.
