Job summary

UC Santa Barbara's Arts & Lectures unit invites applications for the Viva el Arte de Santa Barbara Program Coordinator, a part-time, 25% time role supporting events, community engagement, and artist hospitality for the Viva el Arte program in Santa Barbara County.

The coordinator collaborates with staff, partners, and volunteers to ensure high-quality performances, effective communications, and smooth logistics, with occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• 1-3 years coordinating community programs, events, or similar initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Attend all Viva performances and related activities.
• Assist with event setup, registration, audience services, and breakdown.
• Help coordinate hospitality for artists and guests.
• Troubleshoot minor operational issues during events and communicate significant concerns to Arts & Lectures staff.
• Perform other related duties that support the successful implementation of the Viva program.
• Assist with planning and implementation of Viva performances and community events.
• Coordinate logistical details with community venue partners before each event.
• Maintain event timelines, checklists, and planning documents.
• Support artist travel logistics, hospitality, and on-site needs as assigned.
• Coordinate distribution of promotional materials to community partners.
• Administrative program support during non-active residency weeks settlement records.
• Maintain regular communication with the Director of Education & Community Engagement regarding program progress and emerging needs.
• Respond to community inquiries in a timely, professional manner.
• Assist with collecting event attendance data, photographs, testimonials, and evaluation materials.
• Prepare brief post-event summaries.
• Maintain organized electronic files and program records.
