Job summary

The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Inc. is seeking a Bilingual Advocate to provide mobile support and advocacy for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, connecting clients with community resources and enabling safety and self-sufficiency.

This full-time, non-exempt role requires bilingual English/Spanish capabilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to document services accurately. Flexibility and on-call duties may be required to meet program needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences or a High School Diploma with 2 years' related experience.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet program needs.
• Provides accompaniment to survivors at hospitals within the service area (southeast Harris County).
• Must have own reliable transportation.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Good communication, both verbal and written.
• Ability to document clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

• Provide mobile support and advocacy to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, connecting them with community resources.
• Perform intake, safety planning, and case management meetings to develop and update goals.
• Provide crisis intervention, resource/referral, and support for shelter, housing, legal advocacy, counseling and other resources.
• Assist with legal proceedings, court appearances, and education about the legal system as needed.
• Coordinate transportation and accompaniment to appointments and services.
• Attend agency meetings and participate in community partnerships to build capacity.
