Job summary

North Slope Borough School District is seeking a Science/Math Teacher/Tutor for grades 9–12 under the QLC. The role emphasizes individualized instruction, use of research-based strategies, and frequent assessment to tailor learning experiences.

The position requires Alaska teaching certification or eligibility, and a commitment to bicultural/multicultural education, collaboration with staff, and ongoing professional growth within the district.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education required; Master's Degree preferred.
• Alaska Teacher Certificate or Type M Certificate required or ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
• CTE experience preferred.
• Knowledge & experience with ACE, PBIS, and Restorative Circles preferred.
• Inupiaq, Language, History & Culture experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain competency in subject matter areas of certification and assignment.
• Employ appropriate methods of assessment to identify student proficiency levels and plan programs using data.
• Strive for cooperative interpersonal relationships with students, parents, supervisors, admins, staff, and community.
• Promote and support School District Goals as defined in the Board of Education Strategic Plan.
• Develop awareness of local culture and provide bicultural/multicultural instruction.
