Job summary

The North Slope Borough School District seeks a qualified teacher to implement research-based instructional strategies that support student learning and foster a positive classroom culture. Instruction will be individualized, adjusting materials and pace based on frequent assessments.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Education (Master's preferred) and have experience in education with emphasis on bicultural or multicultural instruction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education required; Master's Degree preferred.
• Minimum three years of education experience.
• Experience with Inupiaq language, history & culture preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain competency in subject matter areas and receive training when teaching outside prep area.
• Use assessment data to plan short- and long-range programs.
• Develop cooperative relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.
• Promote NSBSD goals per the Board of Education Strategic Plan.
• Participate in educational committees and professional organizations.
• Develop bicultural/multicultural instruction aligned to local culture.
• Use Rubicon Atlas for culture-based unit development.
• Supervise and train instructional paraprofessionals.
• Adhere to ethics and professional teaching standards.
• Write and submit weekly lesson plans and keep digital copies.
• Follow district policies and regulations.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
