North Slope Borough School District is seeking a Special Education teacher to implement research-based instructional strategies that support learning for students with diverse needs. Instruction will be individualized, using frequent assessments to guide practice and adjustments across grades and settings.

Responsibilities include developing culturally responsive lessons, collaborating with families, and maintaining weekly lesson plans while aligning with district standards and policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Alaska Teacher Certificate required.
• Three years of experience in education preferred.
• Inupiaq, Language, History & Culture experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Maintain competency in subject matter areas of certification and be prepared to teach outside area with training.
• Employ assessments to identify student proficiency and plan programs using data.
• Foster harmonious relationships with students, parents, staff and community.
• Promote NSBSD goals and participate in educational committees.
• Develop bicultural/multicultural instruction reflecting local culture.
• Write weekly lesson plans and maintain digital copies; follow district policies.
• Supervise and train instructional paraprofessionals as needed.
