Job summary

Saint Joseph Medical Center - Joliet is seeking a Mental Health Counselor for a full-time night shift (7p-7a) in Joliet, IL. The role supports patients and families with emotional, crisis, and referral needs within an interdisciplinary behavioral health team.

The position emphasizes psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, discharge planning, and thorough clinical documentation. Prior inpatient/outpatient behavioral health experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field is required.
• Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, MFT or related field is preferred.
• Current registration or internship with licensing board as appropriate.
• BLS certification upon hire and keep current.
• Minimum one year inpatient or outpatient behavioral health experience preferred.

Job description

• Schedule: Full-Time, Nights, 7p-7a, every other weekend and rotating holidays.
• Location: Joliet, IL 60435

This is a Mental Health Counselor position.

Responsibilities

To provide emotional support, crisis intervention and counseling; information and referral; referrals for financial assistance and supportive services to patients and families with problems that are related to treatment services, illness, disability or trauma. To provide case management & milieu management, complete psychosocial assessments, assist in the development and re-evaluation of Treatment Plans and work as a member of an interdisciplinary team, and to coordinate discharge planning. Complete necessary documentation and maintain clinical record for each client during his/her length of stay.

Education, Experience, Training

• Bachelor’s degree Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or other related required.
• Masters in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor or related field, preferred.
• Current registration an intern with Board, as appropriate to education and licensing requirements.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum one (1) year Inpatient l or Outpatient Behavioral Health experience preferred.
