Job summary

The Peninsula Chicago is seeking a guest-focused Bar Director to lead the beverage program across its luxury outlets on Michigan Avenue. This role centers on designing innovative cocktail, wine, and non-alcoholic offerings while ensuring guest satisfaction and consistency across the property.

You will mentor bartenders and bar managers, standardize recipes, and oversee compliance, scheduling, and service excellence. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years leadership experience in a three-meal period in a restaurant Five-Star hotel.
• In depth understanding of various cuisine, wines, and pairings.
• Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, and 50 Best culture.
• Ability to speak English fluently, additional languages would be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement innovative cocktail, spirits, wine, and non-alcoholic beverage programs
• Create seasonal and signature beverage menus aligned with The Peninsula and guest expectations
• Standardize recipes, presentation guidelines, and quality controls across all departments
• Lead, mentor, and develop bartenders, bar managers, and beverage teams
• Ensure compliance with all alcohol service regulations, licensing requirements, and health and safety standards
• Assist Z Bar in staff scheduling, delegation of job tasks, monitoring and supervision of service, monitoring reservations and table assignment, and ensuring managerial floor presence
• Utilize the POS and HOTsos systems as per policies and procedure in place
