Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an experienced Site Operations Technician to perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and high-voltage electrical work on a mobile Battery Energy Storage System fleet. You will ensure safety and operational readiness for contract work across Southern California.

Responsibilities include preventive/corrective maintenance, commissioning support, and documentation in CMMS. On-site role based in Torrance with travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires comfort working with high-voltage systems (400-1000 VDC).
• Background in EV service, charging infra, fleets, BESS, inverter, or generator field service.
• Experience with high voltage electrical, LOTO, lithium-ion batteries, BMS, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.

Job Title: BESS- Site Operations Technician

Direct Placement Position- $45-55/hr

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Site Operations Technician to perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, commissioning support, and high-voltage electrical work on a mobile Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) fleet. The technician will ensure that deployed battery systems remain safe, operational, and within specification for the duration of each customer contract.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on battery racks and modules, PCS/inverters, thermal systems, DC/AC switchgear, auxiliary power systems, enclosures, and trailer-mounted equipment.
• Conduct troubleshooting and repair activities to maintain system integrity.
• Participate in commissioning support for new system deployments.
• Ensure the safety and operational efficiency of high-voltage systems ranging from 400-1000 VDC.
• Document service work accurately in a CMMS.

Essential Skills

• Comfortable working with high-voltage systems (400-1000 VDC).
• Strong background in EV automotive service, EV charging infrastructure, commercial EV fleets, BESS, inverter, or generator field service.
• Experience with high voltage electrical, LOTO, lithium-ion batteries, BMS, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OEM high-voltage certification from Tesla, Rivian, Ford, GM, or similar.
• EVITP certification.
• NFPA 70E training.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• 480 VAC three-phase experience.
• Switchgear or industrial controls experience.
• Experience with BESS or stationary energy-storage systems.
• Solar, generator, or microgrid experience.
• Forklift certification.
• Class A CDL.

Work Environment

This is a field-based role with a daytime schedule, subject to change based on commissioning activities and outages. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation and may involve occasional overnight travel. The technician will operate out of the Long Beach depot and at various customer sites across Southern California. Working conditions include outdoor environments in various weather conditions, lifting up to 50 lbs, and towing/positioning trailer-mounted equipment. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Torrance, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $93600.00 - $114400.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
