BESS Electrical Field Lead – Solar Projects

Job summary

Moss seeks a BESS Electrical Assistant Superintendent to coordinate and support Superintendents, contractors, and craft activities on large utility solar projects across multiple states. You will ensure MV electrical installations, oversee drawings, schedules, and safety, while coordinating with field engineers and subcontractors.

You will mentor field staff, manage resources, and participate in hiring decisions, with a high travel requirement and remote site work as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' experience with medium voltage equipment and collection line construction.
• Experience on large self-perform projects.
• Proficiency with installation, testing, acceptance, maintenance, and repair of MV cables.
• Knowledge of current injection, Hi-pot, capacitance discharge, contact resistance, Megger, TTR, Doble and similar testing methods.
• Working knowledge of electrical drawings, underground ducts, SCADA, testing and commissioning.
• Valid driver's license.
• 100% travel with rotations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high-quality installation of electrical portions including underground collections.
• Support drawing reviews, constructability, submittals, and ensure conformance with specs.
• Develop project schedules with Electrical Superintendent and create 3-week look-ahead.
• Ensure resources and support for work teams.
• Assist in quality control of self-performed and subcontracted work.
• Coordinate connection of power grid to existing distribution system.
• Supervise installation, splicing, and termination of fiber optic cables.
• Attend project meetings and liaise between field engineers and contractors.
• Monitor subcontractor procurement, staffing, look-ahead schedules, and site coordination.
• Transmit plans, specs, submittals, and RFIs to subcontractors accurately and timely.
• Monitor safety, quality, and efficiency of subcontracted work.
• Coach and train field personnel and supervisors.
• Produce reports and Methods of Operation (MOPs).
• Foster teamwork and provide direction and evaluations.
• Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring decisions.
• Develop leadership potential through task assignments and growth opportunities.
