Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to craft preliminary Battery Energy Storage System designs and review others’ work. The role offers hybrid work with in-office presence in San Diego, CA, Edison, NJ, Bend, OR, or fully remote options.

Location details will be discussed in interviews. Responsibilities include CAD drafting in AutoCAD, reviewing bids, and staying current on NEC/NFPA 855 codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or actively pursuing certification.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook.
• Solid understanding of electrical engineering concepts including wire sizing and current calculations.
• Familiarity with building codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safety and a sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Review bid drawings for internal standards and document differences.
• Evaluate RFPs and communicate unique specifications to relevant parties.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Estimating on RFP responses.
• Perform basic electrical engineering calculations to support design.
• Create and modify electrical drawings using AutoCAD.
• Research electrical codes and NFPA 855 to stay current.
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with other teams.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and specifications.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and revision history.
