Description
The Service Tech Apprentice is a development-track position designed for individuals with a foundation in automotive repair and a strong desire to grow into a Cadillac-certified technician. The ideal candidate is coachable, dependable, safety-minded, and committed to building a long-term career in automotive service. This role supports experienced technicians while learning dealership processes, diagnostic procedures, repair standards, and manufacturer training requirements.
Essential Duties
- Works under the guidance of a mentor technician, team leader, or service manager to learn dealership repair processes and Cadillac service standards.
- Performs basic maintenance and light repair work as assigned, including oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements, fluid checks, battery checks, and other entry‑level service tasks.
- Assists experienced technicians with inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and vehicle testing to develop technical knowledge and hands‑on skills.
- Reviews repair orders carefully and performs assigned work accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with Company and manufacturer guidelines.
- Communicates needed repairs, safety concerns, delays, or questions to the mentor technician, service advisor, or supervisor.
- Examines vehicles to identify recommended maintenance, safety items, or additional service needs and reports findings through the proper process.
- Documents work performed and records all hours worked accurately in the Company timekeeping system.
- Participates in required Company, dealership, and manufacturer training, including training that supports progress toward Cadillac certification.
- Learns and applies technical bulletins, service information, diagnostic tools, and repair procedures as directed.
- Keeps customer vehicles clean and free of fluid residue, fingerprints, or unnecessary debris after service.
- Maintains an organized, clean, and safe work area and returns tools, equipment, and supplies to their proper locations.
- Maintains CSI at or above Company standards by supporting quality workmanship and a positive customer‑service experience.
- Follows safeguard rules and regulations.

- Observes all Federal, State, Local, and Company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Foundation in automotive repair, maintenance, tools, and shop safety.
- Strong desire to learn, develop technical skills, and grow into a Cadillac‑certified technician.
- Coachable, dependable, detail‑oriented, and able to follow directions in a fast‐paced service environment.
Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Automotive technical school, vocational training, ASE coursework, or related hands‑on automotive experience preferred.
- Previous experience in a lube, quick service, apprentice, or entry‑level automotive repair role preferred.
- Must demonstrate a willingness to complete required training and pursue long‑term growth in the service department.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Must be able to talk or listen regularly during performing duties.
- Must use hands, fingers, or must handle objects regularly.
- Must lift up to 20 pounds at times.
- Must stand, crawl, reach, use stairs, and attend social gatherings occasionally.
- Must be able to travel occasionally.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Must maintain a clean driving record.
- Must be willing to complete required Company and manufacturer training, including training that supports Cadillac certification.
