Job Overview – Benefits Specialist

Compensation: $90,000 – $130,000/year + bonus

Location: New York, NY

Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)

Atlantic Group is hiring a Benefits Specialist in New York, NY for our client, supporting employee benefits administration, vendor management, compliance, and benefits strategy. This role will oversee self-funded health and welfare programs, retirement benefits, and employee experience while partnering with third‑party administrators, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient operations and regulatory compliance. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in shaping and enhancing a growing organization's benefits function.

Responsibilities as the Benefits Specialist:
  • Benefits Administration: Administer employee health, welfare, retirement, and leave programs while ensuring accurate enrollments, eligibility, and ongoing plan administration.
  • Employee Support: Assist employees with benefit enrollment, life events, claims, and benefit-related questions while providing a high level of customer service.
  • Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with insurance carriers, third‑party administrators, payroll, and other benefit vendors to support day‑to‑day benefit operations.
  • Compliance: Support compliance with employee benefits and leave regulations, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and other applicable federal and state requirements.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain benefit records, prepare reports, and support audits, open enrollment, and ongoing process improvements.
Qualifications for the Benefits Specialist:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: 3-7 years of experience administering employee benefits programs, including self-funded health and welfare plans and 401(k) retirement plans, is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience managing self-funded benefit plan implementations, vendor transitions, or working with third‑party administrators, consultants, and payroll providers is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and HRIS or payroll systems is required. Experience with ADP is preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, build vendor relationships, and deliver an exceptional employee experience while maintaining regulatory compliance.
