Jericho Project seeks a Benefits Services Coordinator to enhance access to public benefits for Veterans, low‑income individuals and families, and people with disabilities in Manhattan. You will educate staff on entitlements, oversee SOAR specialists, and coordinate with government offices to troubleshoot applications.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree, strong benefits expertise, and the ability to travel across NYC.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Strong knowledge of public benefits systems and prior benefits counseling experience for low‑income families and veterans.
• Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and travel across the five boroughs.

Aufgaben

• Develop and implement strategies for continuous quality improvement of benefits services for Jericho tenants and participants.
• Lead educator on entitlements; design and deliver internal trainings for staff and management.
• Identify and arrange offsite trainings on public benefits resources for Jericho staff.
• Communicate changes in government entitlement policies to Jericho staff.
• Liaise with government offices and troubleshoot benefits applications.
• Recruit and manage Adult and Child SOAR Specialist teams; oversee certifications and monthly reporting.
• Educate and coach SOAR Specialists on applying for SOAR, including medical summaries.
• Train and supervise Benefits Specialist positions; perform performance reviews and monthly reporting.
• Maintain an inventory of client eligibility and benefit access.
• Oversee documentation of benefits in Jericho’s data system and prepare related reports.
• Coordinate with Jericho Directors to identify gaps and develop new benefits initiatives.
• Lead periodic staff meetings and case conferences on benefits.
• Handle other duties as needed by programs and clients.
