Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care System in Hermiston, Oregon seeks a Benefit Administrator to oversee and administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans. You will ensure compliance with ERISA and applicable laws while coordinating with carriers, payroll, and auditors.

This role provides education and enrollment support to employees, manages COBRA for medical and dental plans, and maintains accurate benefit records.

Qualifications

• Experience in benefits administration, including retirement plan oversight.
• Minimum of 3 years in benefits administration.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR preferred or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer and facilitate enrollment, changes, and terminations for all employee benefit programs.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits questions, providing guidance and education on plan options.
• Organizes benefits fairs and coordinate annual open enrollment.
• Manage COBRA administration for medical and dental plans, ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements.
• Oversee the retirement plan, ensuring adherence to fiduciary responsibilities and compliance with ERISA and other applicable regulations.
• Maintain accurate benefit records and documentation for internal reporting and audits.
• Coordinate with carriers, plan providers, vendors, and payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits and deductions.
• Monitor compliance with plan rules, organizational policies, and government regulations; recommend and implement process improvements as needed.
• Assist in preparing reports and documentation for auditors, regulatory agencies, and internal leadership.
• Support benefit communications, including annual enrollment materials, plan updates, and employee education sessions.
• Stay current on trends, regulations, and best practices in employee benefits and retirement plan administration.
• Provide back up for Payroll functions.
• The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
• Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
