Job summary

Xcel Energy Services Inc. is offering a Benefits Administration & Retirement Operations internship based in Minneapolis, MN.

You will gain hands-on experience supporting retirement and health & welfare benefit programs, working with systems like Workday and SAP while assisting with processing, reporting, and data reviews. You will interact with internal teams and vendors, gain exposure to HR operations, and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a degree in HR, business, or management.
• Able to work full-time in summer and part-time during the school year with in-person hybrid attendance.
• Experience with Excel, PivotTables, and data analysis tools preferred.
• Interest in employee benefits, retirement plans, HR operations, finance, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with benefit administration activities by reviewing transactions, researching discrepancies, and helping maintain accurate participant records across multiple systems.
• Perform weekly and monthly reporting, data validation, and operational tracking for retirement and benefits programs.
• Partner with internal teams and external vendors to support retirement, health and welfare, and deferred compensation administration processes.
• Assist with payroll, trust, and funding reconciliation activities and help identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Document business processes and support special projects related to benefits operations, compliance, and participant experience.
