Job summary

York County in Virginia is seeking a Benefits Specialist to manage day-to-day benefits programs and the retirement process. You will assist with design and delivery of employee benefits and provide analytical support to ensure accurate administration.

Responsibilities include administering health, dental, vision, VRS, and other benefit plans; coordinating open enrollments; maintaining records; and supporting wellness initiatives and retirement workshops for county staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience or equivalent.
• Experience with employee benefits programs and retirement processes.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Administers health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits and responds to inquiries.
• Coordinates open enrollments and maintains benefits records in county systems and vendor portals.
• Manages the Wellness Program and oversees FMLA, short- and long-term disability.
• Acts as a liaison between employees and vendors to resolve benefits issues.
• Prepares reports and assists with benefit data analysis and workshops on retirement options.
