Job summary

Golden Hippo seeks a Benefits and Leave Operations Specialist to support day-to-day administration of benefits and leave programs in our California offices. You will be the go-to for enrollments, eligibility checks, and leave workflows across HR systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance while handling sensitive employee data with discretion.

In this role you’ll administer COBRA, health accounts, and payroll deductions, coordinate leave types under FMLA/state laws, and partner with the benefits

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in HR operations, benefits administration, or a related HR support role.
• Familiarity with FMLA, COBRA, and state disability/UI processes.
• Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Paycor, ADP, Workday).
• Knowledge of benefits enrollment platforms and payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Administer COBRA and other benefit transactions that require manual processing outside of automated system workflows.
• Review and approve new hire and life event benefits enrollments.
• Manage employee-facing benefits communications throughout enrollment lifecycle.
• Support administration and funding for Health Savings Account, retirement, and related accounts.
• Perform invoice and payroll deduction reconciliations for benefits vendors.
• Track and administer various leave types in compliance with regulations.
• Complete state unemployment, disability, and leave-related claim documentation.
• Interpret and apply company leave policies with discretion.
