Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Benefits Specialist to own day-to-day administration of the employee benefits program, including health, dental, vision, FSA, life and disability, wellness initiatives, and tuition assistance.

You will be the primary resource for benefits inquiries, ensure HIPAA compliant handling of data, and coordinate with Workday for changes, enrollment, and audits. The role emphasizes accuracy, customer service, and process improvement.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of benefits experience with strong knowledge of employee benefits.
  • Experience coordinating wellness programs and measuring participation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
  • Workday HRIS experience preferred.
  • Ability to deliver high-level customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day benefits program operations including health, dental, vision, FSA, life and disability, wellness, and tuition assistance.
  • Serve as primary resource for benefit inquiries and escalate as needed.
  • Monitor Benefits mailbox and Workday Case Management queue; respond promptly.
  • Review benefit change requests, validate documentation, ensure accurate changes in Workday.
  • Manage the tuition assistance lifecycle from preapproval to reimbursement.
  • Support leave of absence process with third-party administrator.
  • Support annual enrollment activities and system configuration testing.
  • Review vendor invoices and advise Payroll on benefit-related deductions.
  • Lead the wellness program and develop events and engagement initiatives.
  • Track participation and report wellness metrics.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, ERG leaders, and external wellness vendors.
  • Manage enrollment audits, COBRA audits, data integration validation, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Monitor regulatory developments affecting benefit programs and ensure compliance.
  • Support data preparation, notices, and deadline tracking for compliance.
  • Serve as HRIS subject matter expert on testing, enhancements, and automation opportunities.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities and maintain SOPs.
  • Perform other duties to support Benefits team.

  • Own day-to-day operations for the benefits program, including health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life and disability, wellness programs, and tuition assistance
  • Serve as primary resource for employee benefit inquiries and escalated complex or sensitive issues as needed
  • Monitor the Benefits mailbox and Workday Case Management queue; respond to and resolve inquiries promptly and accurately
  • Review benefit change requests, validate documentation, and ensure accurate changes in Workday
  • Manage the tuition assistance lifecycle from preapproval to reimbursement
  • Support the leave of absence process with the third-party administrator
  • Support annual enrollment activities, including system configuration testing
  • Review and process vendor invoices and advise Payroll on benefit-related deduction adjustments
  • Lead the wellness program by sustaining the established program and recommending enhancements
  • Develop, organize, and execute wellness events and challenges
  • Track and report wellness program participation and engagement metrics
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, Employee Resource Group leaders, and external wellness vendor partners
  • Manage enrollment audits, COBRA audits, data integration validation, and discrepancy resolution
  • Monitor federal and state regulatory developments affecting benefit programs
  • Support compliance activities, including data preparation, participant notice distribution, and deadline tracking
  • Serve as HRIS subject matter expert on testing, enhancements, process improvement, reporting, debugging, and automation opportunities
  • Identify efficiency opportunities and maintain or develop standard operating procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Benefits team
Requirements
  • 3+ years related work experience with strong working knowledge of employee benefits
  • Experience coordinating or managing wellness programs, including measuring participation and implementing improvements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and follow-through
  • Strong Excel skills, including reconciling large data files
  • Experience with Workday HRIS preferred
  • Proven ability to deliver a high level of customer service
  • Ability to handle confidential information and protected health information with discretion and in accordance with HIPAA
  • Ability to work independently while remaining adaptable to changing priorities
  • Professional demeanor while interacting with all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
