Job summary

Kj's Market is seeking a Meat Department team member to support sales, quality control, and customer service. You will handle cutting, weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying products while assisting guests and maintaining standards.

The role requires 18+ years old, 1–3 years in meat or supermarket work, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Prior meat-cutting experience is preferred, with opportunities for growth in a family-owned store.

Qualifications

• High school education required or equivalent.
• 1–3 years meat or supermarket experience preferred.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, occasionally, and 25 lbs constantly.
• Ability to supervise and train staff.
• Strong communication and guest service skills.
• Meat cutting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow weekly sales program to maximize sales.
• Achieve budgeted gross profit figures set by Meat Merchandising Department.
• Prepare all meat records as required by Accounting & Merchandising.
• Follow company policies for cutting, weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying merchandise.
• Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage.
• Maintain coolers and freezers to standard.
• Inventory control accountability.
• Support sanitation, safety, and company guidelines.
• Assist guests and maintain good customer relations.
• Consult with Store Manager on meat operations and scheduling to meet objectives.
• Schedule department activities and personnel.
• Ensure department compliance with company standards.
• Provide training and development for staff and build a talent bench.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Follow weekly company sales program to attain maximum sales volume.
• Achieve budgeted gross profit figures as established by Meat Merchandising Department.
• Carry out the preparation of all meat records as required by the Accounting & Merchandising Departments.
• Follow all company policies related to cutting, weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying of merchandise.
• Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage.
• Maintains coolers and freezers to standard.
• Accountable for inventory control.
• Reinforce sanitation, safe food handling practices, security, safety, and company guidelines.
• Assist guests and maintain good customer relations.
• Consult with Store Manager to review meat operations, and advanced planning and scheduling, to ensure company objectives are met.
• Responsible for scheduling of the department.
• Ensures the department is run in compliance with company standards (as measured by ALI audits).
• Ensures direct reports understand expectations for performance, holds them accountable to achieve productivity goals and meets with them to review performance and provide feedback (ongoing and annual performance appraisal).
• Personally responsible for teaching and training departmental staff. Additionally, builds a talent planning bench for the department, including developing and executing development plans for all high-potential and promotable individuals.
• All other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• The skill and knowledge generally associated with a high school education and 1-3 years meat or supermarket experience.
• Must be 18 years old.
• Ability to lift 50lbs, occasionally and 25lbs. constantly.
• Ability to read and understand information and direction.Knowledge of meat operations.
• Ability to supervise people, including training and development.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements on the job.
• Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
• Ability to bend, kneel, stand, push/pull stock carts for extended periods of time.
• Meat cutting experience preferred.
