Kj’s Market is hiring for a Meat/Seafood Department position. You will greet customers, assist with product selection, and maintain freshness and safety throughout the department.

This role emphasizes selling skills, teamwork, and adherence to merchandising standards in a fast-paced grocery environment. You will help with inventory, receiving, stocking, and meeting budget goals while ensuring quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Guest-facing role requiring strong interpersonal and selling skills.
• Experience in supervising and training staff preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a cold environment.

Responsibilities

• Greets guests politely and creates a selling environment using strong selling skills.
• Aims to achieve budgeted sales, supply/wrap, shrink and gross profits for meat/seafood.
• Maintains inventory and ensures in-stock conditions through proper ordering.
• Operates department per merchandising and operational guidelines.
• Maintains high quality and freshness of meat/seafood products and ensures dating.
• Ensures safety and sanitation standards in all areas related to meat/seafood and prep areas.
• Provides guidance, orientation, and feedback to department staff to ensure performance.
• Performs product preparation, receiving, stocking, and guest service as needed.
• Manages labor budget and schedules to maximize sales and guest service.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all guest receive polite, friendly greetings and interactions from the Beef Shoppe staff. Creates a selling environment through the use of selling skills.
• Achieves budgeted sales, supply/wrap, shrink and gross profits for the meat and seafood departments.
• Maintains desired level of inventory and supplies for the meat and seafood departments. Ensures in stock conditions through proper ordering.
• Operates the department according to merchandising and operational programs and guidelines.
• Maintains high quality and freshness with products available for sale. Ensures all products are in date.
• Maintains safety and sanitation standards in all areas that come in contact with meat/seafood and in the prep areas, coolers, freezers, and sales floor.
• Provides guidance, orientation, training, and feedback to the meat/seafood department staff to ensure meat hosts achieve satisfactory performance standards and guest interaction.
• Performs product preparation, receiving, stocking, and guest service as necessary to achieve standards.
• Maintains the department's labor budget and ensures that optimal hours are scheduled for the department to maximize sales and guest service.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Should possess good interpersonal skills, effective selling skills, and have an outgoing personality.
• Ability to work well with others. Ability to sell and interact with customers.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. constantly.
• Ability to read and understand information and directions.
• Knowledge of meat/seafood products and operations.
• Ability to supervise people including training and development.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job, including operating a computer.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to work in a cold environment.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time.
