Job summary

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in San Diego is seeking a friendly Guest Services Associate to welcome guests, escort them to rooms, and help with luggage. You will explain room features and services to ensure a smooth arrival.

This role requires a High School diploma and fluent English, with previous guest service experience preferred. You’ll contribute to a memorable stay by knowing the facilities and assisting guests with requests, while upholding the brand’s standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, plus some guest service experience or hotel experience preferred.
• Must speak fluent English. Other languages preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escorts incoming hotel guests to rooms and assists guests with luggage.
• Inspects guest's room to ensure that it is in order and that supplies are adequate.
• Explains features of room such as operation of radio, television, telephone, in-room movie system, etc.
• Offers information pertaining to available services and facilities of hotel, points of interest and entertainment attractions.
• Delivering clean laundry, guest mail/messages, or sundry items to guest rooms, and responding to other special requests.
• Delivers messages and runs errands.
• Maintains the front porte-cochere by picking up trash.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Respond appropriately to guest complaints. Inform supervisor of major problems, complaints, disturbances or dissatisfied guests.
• Promptly and safely transport luggage to and from guest rooms. May secure, tag and store luggage at guest’s request.
• May regularly inspect and clear hotel entrance and surrounding areas of litter and debris.
• Perform other duties as assigned which may include but is not limited to accepting dry cleaning from guest and secure for pick up by dry cleaning company.

Salary: $21.25

This job requires ability to perform the following:

• Carrying, pushing, or lifting items weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Moving about the public areas.
• Handling objects such as luggage.

• Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with clients, guests and employees.
• Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when completing departmental records/logs, reading road signs, etc.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
