Job summary

Ascension is looking for staff to support the Adult Psychiatry Unit in Chicago, providing daily living assistance and direct patient care on a day shift. The role includes observing patient behavior, reporting changes, and contributing to treatment plan modifications with a patient-centered approach.

This position requires BLS within 30 days of hire, with CPI and Nurse Aide credentials preferred. A high school diploma with2 years of experience or an associate/technical degree is acceptable, and

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 month of hire (AHA or Red Cross accepted).
• CPI certification preferred.
• Nurse Aide credential from IDPH preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Provide or assist with direct patient care, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic interventions.
• Observe and record patient behavior and activities.
• Report changes in condition and suggest modifications to the treatment plan.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Preferred Credential(s):
  • Certification specializing in Crisis Prevention credentialed from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
  • Nurse Aide credentialed from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
