Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is looking for a Psychiatric Technician - Behavioral Health for the night shift (7P–7A), alternating days. You will observe and care for adults with behavioral health needs in a fast-paced setting, under the supervision of the Behavioral Health team and nursing leadership.

The role emphasizes 1:1 observation, rapid de-escalation, and adherence to patient confidentiality. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications including a high school diploma and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or comparable education equivalent.
• Ability to work effectively with Behavioral Health patients.
• Knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention technique.
• First Aid Training.
• BLS Certification.
• De-escalation Training.
• Occasionally lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
• Occasionally push/pull up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 observation and care for adult Behavioral Health patients in emergency settings.
• Document patient behavior and changes for RN and care plans.
• Apply restraints appropriately and learn hospital policies on restraint and seclusion.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per NYS and Federal guidelines.
• Complete admission paperwork, daily attendance, census, and patient satisfaction surveys.
