Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Psychiatric Technician for the In-Patient Psyche unit (1 East). This full-time night shift includes alternating weekends. The role collaborates with Behavioral Health staff to observe, care for, and treat adult patients in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include 1:1 observation, documentation, restraint knowledge, and confidentiality adherence. Requires BLS, First Aid, and crisis intervention training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work effectively with Behavioral Health patients.
• Knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention technique.
• First Aid training.
• BLS Certification.
• De-escalation training.

Responsibilities

• Provide observation, care, and treatment to adult psychiatric patients.
• Document patient behavior and changes during 1:1 observation.
• Apply restraints appropriately on an annual basis.
• Ensure patient confidentiality per NYS and Federal guidelines.
• Complete admission paperwork and daily attendance.
• Transport patients and retrieve supplies as needed.
• Assist with transportation and patient belongings as required.
