Job summary

Copa Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the provision of medical services under the supervision of a BHMP. The role involves direct patient contact, vital signs monitoring, phlebotomy, and clerical duties such as updating patient information and scheduling exams.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED (Associate degree preferred), Medical Assistant certification, CPR, and a valid Arizona driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years old.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma/GED, an Associate Degree preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Certification or have completed an approved MA training program accredited by the CAHEP, ABHES, or an MA program accredited by any accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education
  • One (1) year of behavioral health work experience, preferred.
  • Valid AZ State driver’s license, vehicle with State minimum car insurance and ability to meet Copa driving guidelines.
  • CPR certification, required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and any other required background checks.
  • Bi-Lingual, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Take appropriate vital signs (Height, Weight, Blood Pressure, Pulse Rate, and temperature) and document this information timely and appropriate.
  • Relay to the supervising RN any findings of abnormal values.
  • Perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples and collect urine for testing.
  • Send out any blood samples drawn, or tissue samples taken to the appropriate referral laboratory.
  • Assists in calling in prescriptions (new and/ or refill) for patients per appropriate provider approval.

Who We're looking for

Copa Health is seeking a Medical Assistant who will assist the provision of medical services under the general supervision of a BHMP. Tasks are delegated to the Medical Assistant may involve direct patient contact including assisting in filling out forms, routine activities such as vital signs monitoring, venipuncture for diagnostic purposes, and collection of body fluid samples from patients. Non face to face clerical activities include updating of patient demographic and outside treatment information, scheduling of diagnostic tests and telephonic appointment reminder calls to patients.

  • Valid AZ State driver’s license, vehicle with State minimum car insurance and ability to meet Copa driving guidelines.

  • CPR certification, required.
