Job summary

Copa Health in Arizona is seeking a Medical Assistant to support medical services under the supervision of a Behavioral Health Medical Professional. You will perform vital signs, assist with procedures, and help with forms and scheduling.

The role emphasizes patient interaction, data entry in the EMR, and ensuring accurate specimen collection and lab coordination; experience in Microsoft Office is valued; bilingual abilities preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21+ years old.
  • High school diploma/GED; Associate degree preferred.
  • MA certification or approved MA training program accreditation required (CAAHEP/ABHES or equivalent).
  • One year of behavioral health work experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Ability to obtain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and pass background checks.
  • Bi-Lingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Take vital signs (height, weight, BP, pulse, temperature) and document promptly.
  • Relay abnormal findings to supervising RN.
  • Perform venipuncture and collect urine for testing.
  • Send samples to the referral laboratory as needed.
  • Assist in calling in prescriptions and notifying patients of test results and follow-ups.

Who We're looking for

Copa Health is seeking a Medical Assistant who will assist the provision of medical services under the general supervision of a BHMP. Tasks are delegated to the Medical Assistant may involve direct patient contact including assisting in filling out forms, routine activities such as vital signs monitoring, venipuncture for diagnostic purposes, and collection of body fluid samples from patients. Non face to face clerical activities include updating of patient demographic and outside treatment information, scheduling of diagnostic tests and telephonic appointment reminder calls to patients.



Key Responsibilities


  • Take appropriate vital signs (Height, Weight, Blood Pressure, Pulse Rate, and temperature) and document this information timely and appropriate.

  • Relay to the supervising RN any findings of abnormal values.

  • Perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples and collect urine for testing.

  • Send out any blood samples drawn, or tissue samples taken to the appropriate referral laboratory.

  • Assists in calling in prescriptions (new and/ or refill) for patients per appropriate provider approval.

  • Assists as instructed in notifying patients of any outside diagnostic test results and set up follow-up appointments as directed



Qualifications


  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years old.

  • A minimum of a high school diploma/GED, an Associate Degree preferred.

  • Medical Assistant Certification or have completed an approved MA training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or a medical assisting program accredited by any accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education

  • One (1) year of behavioral health work experience, preferred.

  • Must have demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and any other required background checks.

  • Bi-Lingual, preferred.
