Job summary

SUN Behavioral Health seeks a dedicated behavioral health technician to provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of registered nurses. You will monitor vital signs, observe behavior, and assist with safety procedures, admissions, and daily activities.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CPR and CPI de-escalation certification, with CNA preferred. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to support high-quality patient care and education for new staff.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification.
• Preferred: some college; CNA certification preferred.
• Maintains education and development appropriate for position.
• May substitute experience for education.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect patient care under RN/LPN direction.
• Monitors vital signs and intake/output; notifies RN of changes.
• Observes behavior and mental status; reports changes or unusual occurrences.
• Performs safety checks and assists with restraints under RN direction.
• Assists with ADLs, transfers, meals, and patient orientation to the unit.
• Participates in treatment team meetings and communicates with healthcare staff.
• Conducts 15-minute observation rounds and documents properly.
• Supports orientation of new staff and assists with educational groups.
