Job summary

SUN Behavioral Health Delaware is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to provide direct and indirect patient care in an inpatient setting. You’ll support short- and long-term patient safety, assist with daily activities, and document care using the EHR under RN supervision.

The role emphasizes de-escalation, observation, and collaboration with the treatment team to ensure quality care aligned with HIPAA and facility policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR and de-escalation technique certification required.
• Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• One year of behavioral health experience preferred; may substitute education for experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform and record patient vital signs and intake/output; notify RN of changes.
• Observe patients' behavior and mental status; intervene as needed.
• Escort patients for activities, meals, visitation, and tests.
• Assist with restraints under RN direction and CPI policy.
• Document care per standards and policies; maintain a safe environment.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and educational groups.
• Provide 1:1 observation for high‑risk patients.
