Johnson Memorial Health Services is seeking a Behavioral Health Intake Specialist to coordinate the intake process for individuals seeking behavioral health services. You will be the first contact for clients, families, referral sources, and healthcare providers, gathering information and directing to appropriate clinical staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Previous patient access experience required.
• Experience in behavioral health setting preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication and commitment to customer service.
• Know-how of health insurance coverage, benefits, eligibility, and authorization processes.
• Computer proficiency; EPIC or EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate intake paperwork and collect demographic, registration, and preliminary information.
• Verify insurance coverage, benefits, eligibility, and authorization requirements; collect copays as applicable.
• Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and referrals to behavioral health programs and external providers.
• Recognize urgent concerns and notify clinical personnel per protocols.
• Protect patient privacy and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Perform data entry, reporting, scheduling and other administrative duties to support intake operations.
• Collaborate across departments and support a positive team environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
