Job summary

SEARHC in Petersburg, AK seeks a Behavioral Health Access Representative to be the first point of contact for patients and families. You will greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, and enter data into the electronic health record to ensure accurate scheduling and billing.

Telehealth coordination and crisis support are key responsibilities. The role requires staying calm under pressure, multitasking effectively, and maintaining HIPAA-compliant privacy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS within 45 days for residential sites.
• First Aid required for residential sites.
• 2 years of office experience preferred.
• Medical office experience preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules.
• Strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients at the designated facility.
• Check in/out patients and schedule follow-up appointments.
• Collect, verify, and enter demographic, financial and/or insurance information into the EHR for prompt billing.
• Schedule telehealth connections for clients to connect to/from other locations.
• Screen patients for priority risks and escalate to clinic supervisor as needed.
• Process, accept, and track referrals/consults.
• Open and close duties including handling confidential material securely.
• Answer phones and manage appointment communications.
