Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy in Long Island City, NY is hiring an experienced Behavior Technician to support students on the autism spectrum in a private school setting. This full-time, 12-month program offers hands-on collaboration with teachers and behavior specialists to implement IEPs and help students reach their individualized goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; higher degree preferred.
• Experience with children, especially with autism, is a plus but not required.
• Willingness to pursue RBT certification within a specified time frame.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with IEPs and BIPs for students.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students.
• Support students with daily tasks: communication and self-management.
• Prepare materials and help students leave with appropriate clothing and devices.
• Collaborate with teachers and behavior specialists to maintain a structured learning environment.
• Document data on student performance and progress toward goals.
• Participate in daily training with behavioral analysts.
