Gersh Autism Academy in West Hempstead, NY seeks a compassionate Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) to support students with autism in academics and behavior. You will assist teachers with IEPs and BIPs, provide one-on-one and small-group support, and help students develop communication, social, and self-management skills.

This 12-month, school-based role offers a Monday–Friday schedule, on-site work, and opportunities to train with behavioral analysts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree or higher in education, psychology, or related field preferred.
• Experience with autism or special needs is a plus.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to pursue RBT certification within timeframe.

Responsabilités

• Assist teachers with IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to promote academic, social, and behavioral growth.
• Help students with communication, social interaction, and self-management skills.
• Prepare materials and support daily classroom activities and transitions.
• Collaborate with teachers and behavior specialists to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Document data on student progress and behavior.
• Communicate updates to staff regarding student progress and challenges.
• Participate in daily training sessions with behavior analysts for ongoing development.
