Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy (AYM, powered by Gersh) seeks an experienced Behavior Technician in Queens, NY. You will work in a private school setting with students aged 5-15, providing support in academic and behavioral areas to help achieve individualized goals.

This 12-month position offers a full-time schedule, with opportunities to grow within the Gersh Autism network and pursue RBT certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with children, especially with autism, a plus but not required.
• Willingness to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within specified time frame.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to promote academic, social, and behavioral growth.
• Help students with daily tasks, communication, social interaction, and self-management skills.
• Prepare students and materials for activities and transitions in class.
• Support students during classroom activities, field trips, and school events.
• Implement strategies from behavior plans to promote self-regulation and learning.
• Collect and document data on student performance and progress toward goals.
• Collaborate with teachers and behavior specialists to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Communicate progress and challenges to teachers and staff.
• Participate in daily training with behavior analysts and professional development.
