Job summary
The Rochester City School District invites a qualified Behavior Support Specialist to support elementary and secondary staff and students with emotional disabilities, autism, and mental health concerns. You will implement universal to intensive behavioral supports, and collaborate with teachers, families, and specialists.
Responsibilities include observing behavior, developing and implementing behavioral plans, consulting with staff, and participating in special education teams.
Qualifications
- Certification in one of the listed NY state special education related areas.
- Five (5) years successful experience in educational setting.
- Three (3) years experience with students with emotional disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and behavioral/mental health concerns.
Responsibilities
- Observes student behavior and consults with staff to assess needs.
- Develops individual or group behavioral supports and interventions.
- Prioritizes needs of teachers to support environment, transitions, and instruction.
- Convenes with teachers and parents to develop consistent behavior support plans.
- Maintains liaison with parents, staff, and community resources.
- Facilitates development/implementation of behavioral support and crisis plans.
