Overview
Summary: The Teacher, Exceptional Student Education (ESE), is responsible for the instruction of all areas of Exceptional Student Education in a classroom setting.
Program year: 25-26 School Year | Science 6-12 | Hours: 7:45 am - 3:45 pm

Responsibilities
- Design and implement appropriate Specially Designed Instruction, accommodations, and supports in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
- Develop and implement Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) including present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and required services to meet those goals.
- Create a positive educational climate for students with disabilities in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
- Employ various teaching techniques, methods, and learning principles to enable students to meet IEP goals.
- Observe and evaluate student performance and mastery of standards; monitor assessment data; maintain student grades and attendance.
- Manage classroom behavior using effective strategies, positive behavior supports, evidence-based interventions, and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
- Communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement.
- Provide for health and safety of students and protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Oversee paraprofessionals and appropriately maintain and secure confidential records and data.
- Attend workshops and trainings to build knowledge and skills in Exceptional Student Education; maintain required certifications and professional development hours.
- Perform any other duties as assigned. Note: Responsibilities are not exhaustive and may change based on district needs.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Exceptional Student Education. Student Education Preferred. Eligibility for Florida Temporary Certificate Required.
Language / Math / Reasoning / Computer Skills
Language: Reads, analyzes, and interprets documents; responds to inquiries from employees, regulatory agencies, or the community; writes and presents to managers, the public, and school board.
Math: Works with concepts such as probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry; applies fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning: Solves practical problems; interprets a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands
Standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, crawling, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing. Lifting up to 10 pounds. Reaching with both hands; overhead. Noise level: moderate.
