Job summary

CAPITOL REGION EDUCATION COUNCIL is seeking a Behavior Technician to provide behavioral and academic support at River Street School Windsor. The role focuses on creating a positive learning environment, assisting students who need extra behavioral and academic help to succeed.

Responsibilities include implementing BIPs, observing student progress, de-escalation, one-on-one or small-group support, and collaboration with teachers and staff.

Qualifications

• Supports students using behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) under staff guidance.
• Observes and documents student behavior for data-driven decisions.
• Uses de-escalation techniques to maintain a calm, focused classroom.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in managing behavior with BIPs under certified staff guidance.
• Observe and document student behaviors and provide data to the intervention team.
• Use de-escalation techniques to sustain a calm classroom environment.
• Work one-on-one or in small groups for behavioral guidance.
• Support academic subjects as directed by teachers or intervention team.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and support staff for consistent student support.
• Monitor and document student progress in academics and behavior.
• Maintain accurate records and assist with reporting to administration.
• Participate in ongoing training on behavior management and tutoring.
• Pursue ongoing knowledge of intervention strategies and support systems.
• Complete and maintain annual crisis management training requirements.
• Comply with all policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
