Job summary

KIPP Capital Region in Albany, NY is seeking a Behavior Interventionist to lead behavioral support for students, collaborating with teachers, the Dean of Scholars, and the Director of Student Support Services to create a positive, achievement‑oriented school culture.

You will coordinate and supervise behavioral activities, help staff respond to student needs, monitor safety, and reinforce the school-wide behavior plan while supporting students with IEPs and 504s.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of successful experience as an assistant/aide in a classroom setting or with youth.
• Experience in urban schools is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Commitment to inclusive environment and diversity.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, provide, and supervise behavioral activities for students.
• Advise Teachers to ensure staff meet students' needs, especially those with special needs.
• Manage and reduce risk within the classroom with leadership support.
• Work with the Dean of Scholars to build a positive, achievement‑oriented school culture.
• Assist with supporting students with IEPs, 504s, and behavior plans.
• Implement and monitor school behavioral plans and reward systems.
• Collaborate with Student Support, Teachers, Parents, and Students to create support plans.
• Monitor hallways, conduct restroom checks, and oversee after‑school detentions as needed.
• Communicate with parents regarding student conduct and behavior modification plans.
