Job summary

China Spring Independent School District in Wisconsin is seeking a Behavior Intervention Paraprofessional to support teachers with behavioral and instructional activities. The role involves diffusing disruptive student behavior to refocus and transition students into classroom activities, under supervision of a certified teacher and/or campus administrator.

Major duties include instructional support, student management, and adherence to district policies and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have an Associate’s degree or 48 college hours or an Educational Aide certificate.
• Experience working with children with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Model behavioral techniques including positive behavioral intervention and reinforcement strategies.
• Support classroom teacher and related services staff in managing student behavioral needs.
• Collect data on student performance related to IEP goals, objectives, and behavior intervention plans.
• Participate in student planning meetings to coordinate behavioral goals within the educational program.
• Assist in training staff on the implementation of student behavior intervention plans.
• Assist teacher in preparing and presenting behavioral skill lessons.
• Implement student behavior intervention plans and emergency intervention plans.
• Intervene in emergency situations involving aggressive or uncontrolled behavior of identified students.
• Supervise behavior students throughout the school day, inside and outside classroom; this includes lunchroom, bus, and job site.
• Keep administrator informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Attend training in non-violent intervention techniques including Crisis Prevention and Intervention.
• Follow behavior plans as directed by teacher and ARD committee.
• Attend ongoing training and professional development.
• Participate in team meetings and faculty events as assigned.
• Comply with district policies, safety policies and confidentiality.
