Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with two years' experience in a setting with children with disabilities.
• First Aid/CPR certification required.
• District Paraprofessional Proficiency Exam certification or equivalent.
• Knowledge of behavior techniques and crisis intervention training.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers by reinforcing instruction to classes, groups or individuals.
• Provide physical and verbal support using adaptive equipment and daily living activities.
• Administer first aid and monitor medical needs of students.
• Maintain records and document data on student performance and behavior.
• Apply behavior management strategies during challenging situations and emergencies.
• Keep learning spaces neat, safe, and organized.
• Supervise students during structured and unstructured times.
• Communicate progress and needs with teachers and staff while maintaining confidentiality.
• Assist with bus boarding and departing.
• Follow verbal and written instructions; perform related duties as assigned.
• Work in classrooms or with individual students as assigned.
