Job summary

RIO SECO SCHOOL in Santee, CA, is hiring a Paraeducator – Behavior Intervention for the Rio Seco Expanded Learning Program. You will support a certificated teacher with behavior and academic interventions, and assist with clerical tasks to help students succeed academically, socially and behaviorally.

The role requires working under a school administrator, with a 9-month, part-time schedule and a start date that is immediate.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent plus two years’ experience or transferable skills in a setting with children with disabilities.
• Requires basic knowledge of child development and behavior strategies.
• Experience with record-keeping and data entry tools is preferred.
• Familiarity with ABA-related practices (e.g., DTT, PECS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce instruction to whole class, small groups and individuals.
• Assist students with adaptive equipment and activities of daily living.
• Administer first aid and monitor medical needs.
• Maintain records and collect data on student performance and behavior.
• Use behavior strategies; participate in physical restraints when trained during emergencies.
• Keep learning spaces clean, neat and safe.
• Supervise students during structured and unstructured times.
• Communicate progress with teachers and staff while maintaining confidentiality.
• Assist with bus boarding and departures.
• Follow written and verbal instructions.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
