Job summary

The role requires high school diploma and two years’ transferable skills; First Aid/CPR, and District Proficiency Exam are required or feasible alternatives. Work year is 9 months with specific daily hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years’ experience with children with disabilities preferred.
• First Aid/CPR certification required.
• District Paraprofessional Proficiency Exam certification required (AA or 48 college units or proficiency test).
• Experience with behavior intervention strategies is desirable.
• Proficiency in basic computer operations (data entry, word processing, spreadsheets).
• Knowledge of Approved Behavior Support strategies and tools (IBI, PECS, DTT, applied behavior analysis).

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers by reinforcing instruction to whole class, small groups or individuals.
• Assist students with adaptive equipment and activities of daily living.
• Administer first aid and monitor medical needs of students.
• Maintain records and collect data on student performance and behavior.
• Use behavior management techniques during crises under training; assist in physical restraint when necessary.
• Keep learning spaces clean, safe and organized.
• Supervise students during structured and unstructured times.
• Communicate progress and needs with teachers and staff while maintaining confidentiality.
• Assist with bus loading/unloading procedures.
• Carry out written and verbal instructions; perform related duties.
